In early January 2025, Southern California experienced a catastrophic outbreak of wildfires that severely impacted greater Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Despite the tireless actions of firefighters to contain the blazes, a combination of dry conditions, powerful easterly winds, and unseasonably warm weather led to a rapid and uncontrollable spread. Tragically, at least 27 lives were lost, and over 200,000 residents were ordered to evacuate their homes.
In response to the devastation caused by this disaster, our Southern California Association members joined to provide supporting assistance to victims, volunteers, and first responders. Our Association members from Loving Hut Glendora vegan restaurant first distributed vegan food to frontline officers and firefighters. Then, they teamed up with Vegan Pizza to offer lunch and dinner to more than 600 displaced individuals who had sought shelter at the Pasadena Convention Center.
At a large venue for disaster relief, our Association members set up a booth, where they distributed vegan burgers, salads, vegan pasta, and vegan desserts, as well as bags of vegan kibbles for dog-people. They also shared Alternative Living flyers, Supreme Master TV Max cards, and Master’s “Love Is The Only Solution” book. Working in collaboration with organizations such as Plant-Based Treaty, our Association members were also able to distribute an additional 200 vegan burgers, 300 salads, and 750 crispy vegan rolls that were provided by Loving Hut Vegan Banh Mi in Huntington Beach.
We extend our gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan), Whose selfless example inspires us all, and Whose Love shines a light of hope during challenging times. Our appreciation also goes to our Association’s relief team and all the vegan food suppliers for their support to the fire-affected. We extend our thankfulness as well to the dedicated firefighters, police officers, medical responders, utility workers, and all others working tirelessly to ensure the safety of humans and animal-people alike. Our heartfelt condolences go to those who have lost precious loved ones, as we wish all the fire-affected a swift rebuilding of their lives, in God’s everlasting Grace.
